‘Apni Boli Apna Des’ costs rupees 6 crores to Sarabjeet Cheema

After attracting big corporate producers and huge distribution companies to venture into Punjabi Cinema, now it’s high time for pollywood to touch the pinnacle in respect of production and promotion budget. After the flat performance of ‘Pind Di Kuri’ jumping jack of Punjabi musical stages Sarabjeet Cheema is back with his second film Apni Boli Apna Des (ABAD). According to Cheema, who is also turning producer with ABAD, “till now we have spent about 5.5 cores and it will reach upto six after including the budget of promotion and publicity.” ‘Chan Pardesi’ and ‘Loung da Lishkara’ fame renowned director Ravinder Peepat has shot ABAD at the locations of Punjab and England. While in conversation with JP, we asked him, if he has been putting every thing on stake which he has earned during his life time, Cheema nods in yes. With ABAD one more struggling bollywood diva (Ekta Kapoor’s Kasuati Zindagi Ki fame Parerna) Shweta Tiwari is stepping forward towards Punjabi cinema. Tulip Joshi made a powerful double role entry in Punjabi Cinema by Harbhajan Mann’s Jag Jiyondeya De Mele this year. ABAD is going to release in Punjab, UK, USA simultaneously on 28th August. Along with Cheema and Tiwari’s lead pair, Raj Babbar, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rana Jang Bahardur, Upasna Singh are in supporting cast. After initiating the promotional campaign with the music release on 3 August in Jalandhar lead pair visited Punjabi Music channel studios in Delhi and a radio station in Jalandhar. Between the promotional campaigns Cheema is going to England to perform in a sports tournament. After a break a week the promotional campaign will be on full swing till 28th. There will be a premier show at Sarb Multiplex Jalandhar on 28th august where whole cast and crew will be present on the releasing of film. Cheema says, “We are planning to visit maximum cinema halls after the release during whole weekend.” Cheema is ready to give tough competition to already established singers cum actors Harbhajan Mann and Babbu Mann, because comparison is inevitable by young audience, which is clearly visible in the scrapbook of ABAD’s website. Let’s wait and watch with fingers crossed.
