The ‘Panga’ boy Diljit has travelled a long way from his first music album ‘Ishq da Uuda Aada’ to his latest movie, ‘Jihne Mera Dil Luteya’. Being born in village, Dosanjh Kallan near Phagwara, in the year 1984, Diljit spent the early years of his childhood in the same village. As they say the seeds of success are sown early in life, the liking of music was there in Diljit right from his childhood.

Diljit’s most successful album has been ‘The Next Level’, that is, his most recent music album. Born as Daljeet Singh, he was rechristened to Diljit Singh Dosanjh for his professional career after suggested by S. Rajinder Singh of Finetone, who gave Diljit his first break. Diljit has received training in music from various gurus including Hari Dutt Sharma, Daljit Dhurkatia, S. Gobinder Singh Allampuri, Prof. Kartar Singh (Principal of Dosanjh College).
Diljit’s famous ‘Panga’ song was from his very successful album ‘The Next Level’, whose music director Honey Singh. The album was awarded as the Best Album at the PTC Music Awards in the year 2009. Also Honey Singh was adjudged the Best Music Director of the year for the same album.
Although Diljit played just a guest role in the first movie ‘Mel Karade Rabba’, yet he made his presence felt through that small bit. Then it was in his second film ‘The Lion of Punjab’, he portrayed the lion-like youth icon of Punjab. He proves his mettle with that film. And what to say of ‘Jihne Mera dil Luteya’! He was simply brilliant in portraying the human emotions. He performed equally well in both emotional and action scenes. His expressions and dialogue was very natural and spontaneous. He was fully involved in the character of Gurnoor that he played. And now his latest movie Jatt and Juliet has set the record of biggest opening for a punjabi movie worth rupees 80 lacs.
Diljit has definitely set a standard of acting for the Punjabi film industry. His acting skills are not as if imposed upon a singer-turned-actor. He seems to be born an actor. Diljit has definitely arrived!
